The New Southbound International Medicine National Team – China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) goes to Malaysia for the first time to conduct a mega symposium on cell therapy, smart hospitals and an exhibition with lively feedback – Driving medicine and health industrial collaboration between Malaysia and Taiwan

The newly certified Ministry of Health and Welfare New Southbound International Medicine National Team of the year, China Medical University Hospital, is facilitating medical health collaboration and industrial development between Taiwan and Malaysia under the support of the government. Many great results have collected and accumulated. After a successful industrial seminar conducted this July in Taiwan, Vice Superintendent Kuan-Cheng Chang of CMUH is leading a group to Kuala Lumper to conduct the mega-event “Malaysia-Taiwan Pioneering Cell Therapy Conference 2022” and the “Malaysia-Taiwan Smart Hospital Summit 2022” on October 7, 2022. This is the first professional mega-event focused on cell therapy and smart hospitals in Malaysia. Furthermore, CMUH will build the industrial bridging mechanism to lead 13 excellent medical health companies from Taiwan to attend the conference and present exhibition booths. All professionals from industry, government, academic research and medicine in Malaysia are attracted to participate in these events.

CMUH and Malaysia Association for Cell Therapy sign a MoU to promote pioneering medicine and facilitate industrial development

Ambassador Anne Hung of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, political officers of Malaysia, and Datuk Dr. Tang Yong Chew Goldstone Holdings Berhad are among honored guests gathering here to celebrate and endorse the opening of the event and witness CMUH's signing of a MoU with the Malaysia Association for Cell Therapy (MACT) in the Malaysia-Taiwan Pioneering Cell Therapy Conference.

Vice Superintendent Kuan-Cheng Chang said that signing this MoU with MACT is a remarkable new milestone for facilitating cell therapy in Taiwan to connect with the international society. In the future, local interactions and collaborations with Malaysia will gain traction, going more in-depth and broader than before. In recent years, CMUH has aggressively been developing pioneering medicine, including stem cell therapy, immunological cell therapy and gene therapy, resulting in many excellent achievements. The two events held today will share in our achievements and experience of cell therapy and AI smart medicine (Artificial Intelligence Antibacterial Clinical Decision Support Platform (i.A.M.S), and AI-assisted acute myocardial infarction clinical decision support system). Many experts from Malaysia are invited to share their innovative technologies and applications in cell therapy and smart hospitals. Moreover, we will introduce the excellent medical health companies in Taiwan and connect them with people in Malaysia. Through face-to-face interactions and discussions, the landing of the medical care and industrial development in Malaysia can go further.

President Dr. Lim Teck Onn of the Malaysia Association for Cell Therapy said that international medicine is prosperously developing in Malaysia and cell therapy is a key development as well as a key trend. CMUH has accumulated very good research results and clinical experience, in addition to being closely connected with the industry. It is believed that the MoU will inspire more ideas on both sides to create more collaborative opportunities and development benefits.

Ambassador Anne Hung of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia said that there is a sound development foundation between Malaysia and Taiwan in terms of economics, education and culture. Many Malaysian students stay in Taiwan; many work in the field of medicine. They are an important power to facilitate medical health collaboration between Malaysia and Taiwan. More frequent and in-depth exchanges and collaborations in the medical care space and industry are expected through the resource integration of both countries.

Datuk Dr. Tang Yong Chew Goldstone Holdings Berhad said that there is very good medical technology and medical health industry in Taiwan. Today, following the strong promotion of the policy of smart medicine industry initiated by Malaysian government, is great timing to develop and there is great potential to build collaboration and development in the future. Members of the Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, are especially high-achieving and have been recognized with outstanding results and are strongly bound to Taiwan, so we are happy to invest more effort to facilitate even closer collaborations between Malaysia and Taiwan.

Industrial members of the group who aim to develop business in Malaysia are all very excellent companies from Taiwan, including EUCARE Co., LTD., Mobisnet Technology Co., Ltd., UBESTREAM INC., ThinkCloud Technology Co., Ltd., Ever Young BioDimension, KIMFOREST ENTERPRISE CO., LTD., Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., MAXTEK GO-GO CO., LTD., HIWIN TECHNOLOGIES CORP., EVER SUPREME BIO TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., and Ever Fortune. AI Co. Ltd., QT Medical, Inc. among others. They span the medical health territories of telemedicine, smart medicine, precision genetic testing, AI big data and rehabilitation robots to name a few. In business mapping meetings, many physicians, medical institutes, clinics, medical health business agencies and distributors are interested in and actively participate in events, expecting to generate further local collaborations in Malaysia. The companies in the group said that they highly recognize the policy of the government for facilitating industrial internationalization and the effect of the New Southbound strategy. It is a highly interactive event and the market situation is understood better through seminars so companies can adhere more to the local conditions. Everyone is satisfied with the preliminary results of business development so companies would like to participate further and have more business opportunities to accurately develop the medical health market in Malaysia.
